#9 What makes a good life?

1.Briefly introduce the Harvard study on happiness.
2.Are you surprised by Dr. Robert's findings?
3.According to your opinion, what makes a good life?

The Harvard Study of Adult Development took a long time in adult life study and track the testees about their work, home lives, health, and also asking all along the way without knowing how their life stories were going to turn out. They found out that whatever the testees' characters and backgrounds are, the conclusion is: Good relationships keep us happier and healthier.
I'm a little bit surprised about Dr. Robert’s findings because I always consider good relationships can bring people happiness and he just verified this fact.
In my opinion, keep good relationships with family and friends, always stay positive and have a healthy body can make a good life.

#8 Do you procrastinate sometimes? Why do you procrastinate? How to stop procrastinating?

I do procrastinate sometimes. I procrastinate because I always feel like I still have a lot of time although the deadline is approaching. By the reason, the progress rate may be delayed and be in such a hurry at the last moment. When I'm procrastinating, I usually think of 'What am I doing now?', but simultaneously, I'll keep wasting my time. How can I stop procrastinating and make my time valuable? First, I should build a clear goal and set an alarm to remind myself. Second, I should tell apart what to do first and what things are not that important. Last, tell my family or friends about my plans and schedule, and let them urge me to keep on track. I think there's more methods to keep away from being a procrastinator and I must try hard to practice not to procrastinate from now.

#7 Inside the mind of a master procrastinator

3 keywords I learn from the talk :
  • procrastination (n.) 拖延:the act of delaying something that must be done, often because it is unpleasant or boring
  • rational (adj.) 理智的:based on clear thought and reason
  • momentum (n.) 動力:the force that keeps an object moving or keeps an event developing after it has started
Summarize the talk :
Tim Urban told us how procrastination generate and he thinks that it doesn't make sense. People who are procrastinators will wait until the deadline to get things done. Maybe there's no non-procrastinators exsist, so Urban encourages everyone to think about what we're really procrastinating on, before we waste our time on instant gratification instead of staying rational. If it's a long-term kind of procratination and there's no deadline, it might become a source of a huge mount of long-term unhappiness, and regrets. We should take more serious and be aware of the problems of procrastination.

Introduce the talk :
The pyschologist Angela Lee Duckworth proposed that grit is a more important success thrait than IQ and talent. Grit is living life like it's a marathon, not a sprint and to buid grift, there's something called growth mindset, it's a belief that ability to learn is not fixed, that it can changed with your effort.

#4 Transport Systems In Taiwan

Nowadays, MRT and high-speed rail are really fast and convenient in Taiwan. But I think there are still some problems need to be improved, such as the priority seats and crimes. These problems are concerned by people for a long time but there's no actual action to increase our transportation quality. There might be more and more new technology of transport systems stationed in Taiwan in the future, but if the potential problems were all gone, I think that people will have a better standard of living and our transport systems may be more comfortable.
